Spokeo is one of the most favored people search engine in the United States. This is a free people search engine that I would recommend every individual to use it for searching people. After examining the site research here is my honest review.

What Does It Offer?

spokeo bannerThe service provides information of an individual’s social profiles, white page listings, emails, usernames, and public records. It is possible to locate nearly all persons from the 300 million residents of the United States with it. In fact, I have used it to find long lost friends. Upon entering the search details, the search engine displays all the available relating to the individual.

Is It Easy To Use?

By just entering the person’s qualifier such as full name, the search results page is quickly generated. This page provides the useful information relating to the person being searched. Upon searching for someone, the individual’s information such as phone number, email address, and geographical location is displayed. Moreover, additional information such as court records and social media profiles are provided on the site.

Is It Accurate?

Before using Spokeo, I was curious to know whether the search engine displays accurate information about the individuals being searched. So I decided to establish this by searching the person I knew very well. In the search pages results, I found out that the results contained a lot of incorrect information such as; person’s age and current phone number. To my relief, the physical location of the person was correct! Moreover, I also noted that the information of the family member I searched for was not accurate. I went further to search my name. Surprisingly, it gave me the correct information about my past and current addresses. However, the most shocking thing is that it assumed that I was residing in the residence I sold about a year ago. In this case, I wonder how often it updates its data bank.

I took a further step to venture into court records but was not allowed unless I paid some fee. In this case, I was surprised about the additional fee because most of the court records in the United States are available online. In fact, most states in the US offer court information for free via online databases. Moreover, I was also blocked from accessing my social profile photos as I was required to pay an extra fee.

On the top of their website, there is a tab that is used to search people based on their names, phone numbers, and email addresses. Upon clicking that tab to search for the person I knew, I was denied access and prompted to pay $4.95 for extra information.

On the other hand, they offer neighborhood data that include top area occupations, average property value, and average household income. In that case, I found out that most of the data given are inaccurate and irrelevant.

Pricing

I registered for cheap $0.95 trial plan but after the expiry of the trial I was required to pay an extra fee. There are options of paying $3.95, $4.95 or $19.95 per month to access basic personal information. Moreover, I was required to pay an extra fee for any additional search service.

I also discovered that monthly subscription for premium members does not rollover for unused searches. However, members can increase their monthly quota limit by paying extra for their accounts. This prompted me to sign into one of the subscriptions but was prompted to sign up for membership of 3 or 6 months. The payment plan for Spokeo is $4.95 for 3-month membership plan and $3.95 for a 6-month membership.

When I tried to leave the site, I was given an offer of $0.95 weekly trial version that enticed me to paying using my credit card. At that point, I was able to complete my initial name search.

Is It Easy To Cancel?

Members can cancel the subscription by hitting the “cancel” button on the site for any service the no longer want. One can cancel by calling their customer care number. Once canceled, you will receive a confirmation email.
